5 Things I loved about my Danube River Cruise

My first river cruise was on the Danube River in November. There were SO many things I loved about it--but I will keep it to five.
Ease. The most wonderful thing about River Cruising is unpacking once and waking up in different cities and countries. The crew is outstanding and makes all things as easy as possible. Like red wine with dinner? The crew remembers after the first night and brings it to you without having to be asked. And getting off the ship? There are no long waits or lines. It's easy peasy.
Sip and Sail Hour. The hour before dinner is spent in the lounge with cocktails of the day and many complimentary drinks along with snacks. Local entertainment is brought on board. The last part of Sip and Sail is the cruise director giving an overview of the next day's port and excursions.
Local Flavor. Along with the local entertainment already mentioned, local cuisine and wine is served depending on the region the ship is sailing through at the time.
Making New Friends. European river cruises draw folks from all different places. I am not sure how many countries were represented on our ship, but there were lots. I met people from lots of different places, but really befriended a couple from England. We ate several meals together and found each other at Sip and Sail to chat about our daily activities.
Variety of Excursions. City tours, hiking, bike tours, wine tastings.....each port brings variety, and you can choose what you like. You can also choose to wander and do your own thing instead.
I can't say enough how much I love a river cruise. It's a trip to Europe that feels like a vacation because you don't have to navigate lots of logistics like hotel changes and transportation. I loved it so much I am headed back to cruise the Rhine River for the Christmas Markets this year.
